Chapter One: Elegance and Succulents

The Bride and Groom always set the tone for their Wedding Day, and this lovely couple was no exception.  They are gracious, elegant, stunning and have an intimate connection that is the stuff of which dreams are built upon.  Their special day, hosted at the exclusive KD Beach Club (Kapulehu Beach Club), was the perfect blend of these qualities.  It was our extreme pleasure to be a part of this event captured by Fletch Photography.

We are fortunate to have the opportunity to share with you a bit about this Bride and Groom.  We thank them for sharing such an authentic description of their relationship together.  In their own words:

From the Bride:
“We met at a French wine bar called Amelie in San Francisco through a mutual friend, and ran a 5k together as our first deliberate ‘meeting’ two days later.  We felt as though we knew each other already from the moment we met, like we had been together in another time, a different life.

Although we met in San Francisco, Phil moved to my home town of Naperville, IL, when I was in high school.  I moved to the Big Island six months after he came to Naperville.  We maybe should have or could have met then.  It was a missed opportunity.  As though, we were circling each other. Phil finally caught up with me in San Francisco 14 years later!

We have a mutual, passionate vulnerability with one another, by which we know the depths of each other’s emotions, history, and most importantly, our love of one another. This is one way we know our love is our lifeline and our destiny.  This is the fearlessness that makes us trusting.”

From the Groom:
“Experiencing this is the only way to understand it.  It cannot be observed from the outside.  Anything I thought I knew prior to Laura has changed through my experience with her, through becoming one with her.  It has made me realize who I am, and who I am meant to be.  It is life changing and it creates beauty in everything.  This is living in love.”

After their vows, before the Bride and Groom recessed, the Officiant (who was also the Bride’s cousin), closed the ceremony with these words from C.S. Lewis:

“But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world had only been the cover and title page: now, at last, they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read, which goes on forever, and in which every chapter is better than the one before.”
